There are many reasons why acupuncture works and I will be the first to tell you…”it is hard to say.”  If you give any single mechanism the reason for its success it would than fail to account for the maybe upto a dozen factors.  Regardless, choose your practitioner wisely.  Enjoy the experience.  Acupuncture is not a cure all and it doesn’t work for everyone but be patient and consistent with your care…and again enjoy the experience.
