Year of the Iron Tiger
It is just about upon us, goodbye Ox…hello Tiger.
It should be a good one.
Thanks Dr Mao, he is good. If you are ever in need of acupuncture in Santa Monica. Yosan University is the place to go.
We don’t do horoscopes at our Chanhassen Clinic we only treat people, but we can give you some great info to do some research if astrology is your thing.

On insomnia
As I write this myself at 5 in the morning…
But, I gotta say, I love the mainstream stories. Our medicine is growing everyday.
In our Chanhassen clinic we use a combo of herbs and acupuncture…that can be very effective for the hardest cases.

This article is CRITICAL
For all the arguments about the efficacy of acupuncture and chinese medicine this is what it comes down to. This is written by a Trauma Surgeon in regards to Haiti and utilizing acupuncture points to diminish the pain of all the victims undergoing amputations and surgeries from being crushed from the earthquake. Because there is no help, no medicine, no tools available in those critical first days and now 9 days later. People are getting surgery with no pain meds and rusty hack saws as if it were the 1850’s…beyond imagination and deplorable, but REAL!
I think to myself here I am in comfortable MN at a moderately busy acupuncture clinic, (read…under-utilized) as something so simple as ear point acupressure can have the potential for enormous relief!!!

The cost of care…
Here is a quick read on the cost of care around the world. What would make this better would be to include malpractice/litigation cost ratio’s associated with these procedures. We could better understand the costs incurred due the excess lawyering we have in this country. One fortunate side-effect with acupuncture is that in the medical world we have extremely lost malpractice insurance costs. This translates into less expensive care for you the end user. Our typical treatment is less than half of what just an office visit is here with no tests/blodd panels/prescriptions. Strep throat may cost/billed as much as $400 when it is all said and done with the culture. That is crazy for such a straightforward issue…something to think about and how you want to spend your HSA dollars.

Here is a well balanced look
at the state of insurance and health care.
It does a nice job of representing all the perspectives that we in the CAM field face. It is nice to see some neurologist say something nice our way! Exhaust those conservative methods first. It is better and cheaper in the long run.
